Trigonometric Ratios CBSE NCERT Solutions Chapter 8 Exercise 8.1 Question 10
10. In
, right angled at Q, PR + QR = 25 cm And PQ = 5 cm. Determine the values of sin P, cos P and tan P.
Solution:
It is given that PR + QR = 25 cm
Let PR = x cm
Then, QR = (25 – x) cm
We are given that PQ = 5 cm
Using Pythagoras Theorem on
, we get
{
}
Therefore, PR = 13 cm
And, QR = (25 – x) = 25 – 13 = 12 cm
sin P = (Side Opposite to Angle P) / (Hypotenuse) =
cos P = (Side Adjacent to Angle P) / (Hypotenuse) =
tan P = (Side Opposite to Angle P) / (Side Adjacent to Angle P) =
