CBSE NCERT Solutions Chapter 6 Triangles Exercise 6.3 Question 15
15. A vertical pole of length 6 m casts a shadow 4 m long on the ground and at the same time a tower casts a shadow 28 m long. Find the height of the tower.
Given: AB is a pole of length 6 meters and it casts a shadow of 4 meters on the ground.
PQ is the tower and it casts a shadow of length 28 meters on the ground.
It is absolutely clear that length of shadow is totally dependent on the length of the structure.
We have
{Each 90 degrees}
Also, sun rays will fall at the same angle on the pole and the tower. Therefore,
Therefore, by AA similarity criterion,
~
Therefore, we can say that
{Corresponding sides of similar triangles are proportional}
meters
Therefore, the height of tower is 42 meters.
kalpan says
The angle of elevation of a tower at the top and foot of a pole 10 metres high
are 30º and 60º respectively. Find the height of the tower.
Do you know how to find the height
Jashan says
If, you know how to make diagram then you can easily solve it. Please go through all the Trigonometry chapter solutions which I have posted here. Then, You would be able to solve this problem.
