**Areas related to Circles ncert solutions Chapter 12 Exercise 12.3 Question 9**

**9.** In diagram, AB and CD are two diameters of a circle (with center O) perpendicular to each other and OD is the diameter of the smaller circle. If, OA=7 cm, find the area of the shaded region.

**Solution:**

Area of shaded region = Area of smaller circle (shaded) + Area of two segments of circle which are shaded **(1)**

Radius of smaller circle (shaded) **cm**

Area of smaller circle (shaded) **(2)**

Area of 1 segment of circle = Area of sector OBC - Area of

Area of 2 segments (which are shaded) *(3)*

Putting **(2)** and **(3)** in **(1)**, we get

Area of shaded region =38.5+28=66.5
