**16.** Calculate the area of the designed region in fig. common between the two quadrants of circles of radius 8 cm each.

**Solution:**

It is given that radius of quadrants DAC and BAC = r = 8 cm

It is given that DAC and BAC are two quadrants which means that

Area of Designed portion= Area of Quadrant DAC + Area of Quadrant BAC-Area of square ABCD **(1)**

Area of Quadrant DAC=Area of Quadrant BAC

Area of Quadrant DAC+Area of Quadrant BAC **(2)**

Area of square ABCD = side x side=8 x 8=64 **(3)**

Putting **(2)** and **(3)** in **(1)**, we get

Area of Designed Portion
