**Areas related to Circles ncert solutions Chapter 12 Exercise 12.3 Question 15**

**15.** In fig. ABC is a quadrant of a circle of radius 14 cm and a semicircle is drawn with BC as diameter. Find the area of the shaded region (blue).

Area of shaded region (blue)= Area of semi-circle with BC as diameter(red area + blue area)-Area of segment of circle (shaded in red) **(1)**

AB=AC=14 cm {Radii of circle}

Using Pythagoras Theorem, we can say that

**cm**

BC is the diameter of semicircle (red area + blue area) which is equal to **cm**

Therefore, radius of semicircle **cm**

Area of semicircle with BC as diameter (red area + blue area) **(2)**

Area of segment of circle (shaded in red)=Area of sector ACB of circle - Area of

**(3)**

Putting **(2)** and **(3)** in **(1)**, we get

**Area of shaded region (blue)**
