Areas related to Circles ncert solutions Chapter 12 Exercise 12.2 Question 8
8. A horse is tied to a peg at one corner of a square shaped grass field of side 15 m by means of a 5 m long rope. Find
(i) the area of that part of the field in which the horse can graze.
(ii) the increase in the grazing area if the rope were 10 m long instead of 5m. (Use
)
Solution:
Lets suppose that horse is tied to point D. The length of rope is 5 m. It means that horse can graze only the area of sector PQD.
(i)
Area of sector PQD=
(ii)
If, the length of rope is 10 m instead of 5 m then area in which horse can graze is:
The increase in grazing area=78.5-19.625=58.875
